One of the things i missed when i left London was IKEA. IKEA was the one store that introduced me to scandinavian style of living and made me fall totally in love with SCANDINAVIAN furniture & designs. Scandinavian design are well known throughout the world for providing an ultra-modern feel. Designs are simple, classic and focus on beautiful shapes and sweeping curves in furniture pieces – especially chairs. Natural wood finishes, chrome and neutral, pale upholstery are classic touches in modern Scandinavian design. White and Neutrals always works as a color platform for any Scandinavian Style.

Although I consider my self a neat freak and love all white everything, I still think a lil color wont hurt sometimes, but nonetheless, I still like the Scandinavian Interior design styles - its unique and different.

When i migrated from London to NYC in 2000 and noticed there was an IKEA in NJ I was so happy, and always got on the turnpike to go get my Items. Then in 2002, I moved from NYC to Ohio for grad school, and for two years in Ohio there was no IKEA (bummer huh?), and then i moved from Ohio after graduation to Atlanta in 2004, and yet again there was no IKEA in Atlanta. I was so disappointed and just wished and prayed that IKEA will come to Atlanta and low and behold a few years after moving to Atlanta, IKEA finally launched its first store here. You best believe I was one of the first people in line when those doors finally opened that day.

I can totally sympathize with those who still live in cities where there is no IKEA (yet). Maybe bombard them with letters like my friends and I did and they may heed to your request LOL. They are growing very fast and I am sure in no time they will get to your city if they are not there yet.

America is used to larger space living, Do you think Ikea has resurrected a new trend amongst the Gen X and Gen Ys in USA where more customers, are now gearing towards smaller space living, hence the reason for their success in this country.

Currently living in a 850 sq feet 1 bedroom apartment, Personally i think Ikea's inspiring ideas for small space living will always come in handy. (GO IKEA!!!!). I am always going thru their catalogue for ideas.
