MODERN ABSTRACT ART BY MICHELLE ARMAS

I am new artist myself and always looking out for inspiration from the best. I love Modern and Abstract art and my favourite artist from the past includes Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, Willenide Kooning, Cy Twombly and Jackson Pollack.

I just came across Michelle Armas by browsing through http://www.serenaandlily.com/ catalogue (bazaar tab). I just instantly fell in love with her painting and her use of color and strokes are just amazing - as a new upcoming artist, Michelle affirms to me that there are absolutely no limitation when it comes to painting - the more free you are with your brush strokes and your paint colors - the better the outcome (taking cue) . Her spontaneous use of beautiful colors reminds me of when i first learnt how to draw as a young child.  She just takes you there (lol) and I am so loving it.

Michelle Armas began painting as a way to relieve the stress of working in a corporate graphic design office. These days, Armas works full-time in oil and acrylic. Her paintings encompass a number of styles, ranging from abstract to portraiture; geometrics to free-form shapes—and sometimes all of the above. The mixture of hard shapes against soft lines creates a portfolio that is continually evolving and consistently interesting.

What do you think of these paintings? Personally I love it and I will be placing an order of the 18 by 18 very soon (i can only afford that size for now). I have to decide where I am going to hang it though- hmmm - i think i might end up hanging it in my home office.
