(Test swatch of one of my many designs)
First of all i would like to apologize for my lateness in updating this blog. As i mentioned in my earlier journal, I am a new designer trying to get my foot into the textile and home furnishing industry and launch my own custom made designed pillows (and other decor stuff) by May 2012. I dont have academic training in textile design but I am willing to learn from ground up.
.
With less than 7 months to go, I still can't seem to find a local or national fabric printing mill who I could get to produce my fabrics for me (i have asked a few people whose products inspire me - but unfortunately no one is willing to tell me or advice me). Its like my biggest challenge thus far - the process of getting my designs onto fabric and what mill will be willing to speak to a small entrepreneur like myself with a small yardage request.
.
With all the challenges I am facing, it motivates me more and I think I have a story to tell someday. I see the positive side to this because I am learning all I can learn. With strong determination -I know someday i will be a pro and more knowledgeable than I am now. I am learning everything from scratch including using Photoshop and Illustrator to design my fabric. I am not hiring a graphic designer (yet) to do anything for me - but i know eventually as the workload increases i will need one.
.
In the mean time, if you are wondering what the photo above is, that is just one of my hundred odd copyrighted designs, and you all need to look out for in 2012 launch. I am currently getting my swatches made by a small local company, however I am searching for the best production company out there (Locally or out of state) who have a minimum yardage order of less than 300 and who uses the best fabric, colors & most importantly eco friendly print inks.

I am currently so swamped with so much work and preparation before my projected launch of my products in May 2012 (before my birthday on the 20th). I am even still searching for a web-designer for my upcoming website launch. I hand sketched my own logo and all i need now is to get it digitized in the CYMK color of my choice. Yes I know i need an assistant (e.g. an expert graphic designer) and my plan this weekend is to search for one or go by recommendations.
.
If any of you have any recommendation for a great web and logo designer, who is not too pricey - please let me know. I am very easy to work with and I know exactly what i want. I would also love a recommendation for an assistant in the graphic design field (preferably someone who lives locally here in Atlanta, GA). I am looking to work with someone i can have longevity with as i start this company from ground up. Someone I can work with for a very long time. For those of you who are already established out there, could you advice me on the best way to scout for an assistant or intern. I plan on going to go to my local art & design colleges and see if I could advertise looking for someone.
.
Its now 1.30am and I have to go to work tomorrow at 8am, so goodnight everybody and have a great week-I guess until my product launch I will be having a lot of late nights like this.
